SUMMARY:Congregational Meeting
DESCRIPTION:\nA congregational meeting has been called to vote on the purchase of the McFarland UMC property on Tuesday, July 14 at 7:00pm. If you are a member of Cornerstone, please do everything you can to be present. Normally, a simple majority of corporation members (communicants who are 18 or older) who are present at the meeting is all that would be needed to pass this motion, but given that our bylaws only require us to have 1/3 of the members present for quorum, that would have meant this motion could have potentially passed with less than 20 positive votes! Given the significance of the matter before us, the session decided to raise the voting threshold to require a simple majority of the entire body of corporation members, whether present or not, which means we will need at least 46 positive votes for it to pass. It also means that it is very important for you to attend if you are a communicant member over the age of 18. Practically speaking, not showing up to vote is a “no” vote. Please prayerfully work through this material ahead of time, and feel free to reach out to members of the FEC with any questions you might have.
